Butyl Rubber Clean-up
Hey Guys,
During the retrofit process, I got some butyl rubber on the clear plastic headlight cover on the outside. Is there a chemical I can use that can efficiently take it off while unharming the headlight. Thanks -

Just use more butyl.
Stuff is nastynasty...It got on my tint and I just repeatedly stuck a glob of extra butyl to it, since it sticks to itself better than anything.
Just like removing bubble gum.Comment

Ill look up on goo gone. The lights are already sealed. I am not talking about the rubber that seal the lens and the headlight frame together but some of the butyl rubber got on my fingers. When i was pushing the two pieces together, some of the butyl rubber got onto the clear cover of the headlight.

I recently scratched up one of my lenses a little trying to get a string of butyl off :/ Went at it with hot soapy water and ended up being too aggressive.
That stuff sucks. I mean its great until it gets on something you don't want it on. Clearly hot soapy water and lots of rubbing isn't the answer lol

Keep in Mind "Like dissolves Like" So polar substances will do nothing to it because it itself is not polar

I'd have to agree with TrakTuned. Just take another ball of butyl and dab at it. The ball of butyl will pull the unwanted bits off. Plus you reduce the chances of rubbing a speck of dirt around, which could end up scratching your lens.
I usually wet my fingers before grabbing the ball. That way it doesn't stick to my fingers.

Heat up the area and use butyl to pick up the stuff on the lens. Then Googoo to clean off any extra adhesive
